Niagara Transformer, LLC, Buffalo, NY seeks VP Engineering - Demonstrate near-expert level competence in understanding the full end-to-end aspects of liquid filled transformer’s engineering operations and the product development lifecycle. Act as a lean champion and innovative thought leader, focusing on driving standardization, simplification, and digitalization for & across the scope of products. Ensure a customer’s first mindset is embedded across NTC processes, systems, and tools, making work easier and creating capacity for our engineers across all aspects of the product design and quotations to include conducting design reviews with customers and outside consultants describing and supporting design details developed by the electrical and mechanical engineering staff. Interact with manufacturing, sales, procurement and quality assurance reviewing issues that come up on the manufacturing of liquid filled transformers to manufacture according to the company procedures, standards and to adhere to best-in-class standards. Oversee engineering staff, conduct interviews, hire staff, complete job reviews, and act as mentors for engineers/drafters. Review and approve documentation associated with engineering including review concept electrical designs for completeness and accuracy, meeting internal standards and customer requirements and review and analyze test results and compare with design expected values to improve either test equipment or design practices. Complete analysis reports, review contract documents, complete cost estimation designs, ensure that projects meet customer specifications, and revise schedules or deadlines as necessary. Ensure employees are working according to company policy, state and federal regulations. Developing real time analytics driving product development lifecycle effectiveness and plan scheduling and design assignments within the department and approving designs once issued and checked by peer designers. Streamlining information and data through the product development lifecycle to optimize / standardize / Automating engineering activities to include developing and implementing electrical and mechanical design practices for liquid filled transformers up to 138 kv, 650 kv BIL. Review and implement engineering software available in market including specifically Electro/Coulomb/Faraday/Oestern (Finite Element Program), Andersen (Short circuit calculations in Transformers), VLN (Impulse Transients Program), Tra1 (Design Simulation), Autocad /Creo to confirm electrical & mechanical design parameters and developing and deploying strategies to advance our engineering process maturity and efficiency.

Requires Bachelor’s (or foreign educ. equiv.) Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or closely related field and five (5) yrs. (post-degree, progressive) experience in Job Offered or related.
