Special Patrol Officer (Per Diem) 2 positions Openings available at Salmon River CSD Retired member of a police or sheriffs department, or division of state police*, or a retired former correction officers, parole or probation officer. *Does not qualify for reinstatement, may need to participate in a civil service exam at a later date. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS TO CARRY OR POSSESS FIREARMS: Firearm license is required (submit proof) Special Patrol Officers may not carry or possess firearms while on duty unless authorized to do so by the Appointing Authority and a license has been issued pursuant to 400.00 of Penal Law (2.10.37 of Criminal Procedure Law). Where possession of the license is required, eligibility for and continued possession of the license is required for employment. NOTE: Per GML 209(v), qualifying retired correction, parole or probation officers may request a reinstatement* in lieu of the civil service exam. Former municipal Police and Deputy Sheriffs may request a reinstatement* if retired within one year of application. *For more detail regarding reinstatement eligibility contact the Personnel Department.
